A STORY FROM THE TONBACH VALLEY.
The history of the Traube goes back to 1789 when baker Tobias Finkbeiner invited charcoal burners and lumberjacks to come into his modest room for a meal and a drink. When the Duke of Württemberg granted him the right to serve alcoholic beverages, he immediately opened up a private wine bar beside his home offering good honest fare: the Traube (= bunch of grapes). This small house is still our cosy rustic Bauernstube. In 1920, the first holidaymakers arrived in the Black Forest, and, over the years, the Traube grew into one of the most sophisticated hotels in Europe.
