The lumberjacks stopped for a bite to eat at the rustic Bauernstube.

In 1789, resourceful baker Tobias Finkbeiner decided to open his home to provide refreshments to lumberjacks. When Duke Karl Eugen von Württemberg gave him the license to sell food and beverages, this became the first inn in Tonbach Valley.

The first people came to the Black Forest on holiday in 1920. The foundations were laid for today's luxury hotel in the 1950s.

The course for modern hospitality was set in the 1950s. Since 1993, patron Heiner Finkbeiner has developed Traube Tonbach to become one of Europe's top hotels. Today, the impressive hotel has 310 employees and is delighted to impress its guests. It only takes one visit to get hooked: 80% of Traube's guests are regulars.
